PEM050 Electronic Metering Pumps

Ultra-High Purity PTFE Dispense Pump

Overview

PEM050 metering pumps accurately dispense 1-50 ml of ultra-pure chemicals. They feature a fully supported rolling diaphragm to maximize discharge pressure capabilities. Positive control valves eliminate variability typical of check valves to ensure accuracy.

Operation

The diaphragm is fixed to the internal cylinder and piston. As the motor moves the piston downward, the diaphragm rolls down, which pulls liquid into the chamber. As the motor moves the piston upward, fluid flows out of the chamber. Valves control flow through the ports. Fluid may be dispensed via one port or alternated between ports. Fluid may remain in the chamber to be dispensed as needed.

Metering Pump Operation

Shown: Fluid is drawn into the chamber via the left port as the piston moves downward. Then, fluid is dispensed via the right port. Animation demonstrates full suction and dispense per stroke.

Metering Pump Operation

Shown: Fluid is drawn into the chamber via the left port as the piston moves downward. Then, 50% of the fluid is dispensed via the top-right port, and suction is applied before the valve closes. The remaining fluid is dispensed via the bottom right port.

Metering Pump Operation

Shown: Fluid is drawn into the chamber via the bottom-left port as the piston moves downward. Then, 30% of the fluid is dispensed via the top-left port, and suction is applied to the line before the valve closes. The remaining fluid is dispensed via the top-right and bottom-right ports, which each dispense 30% and provide suck back.

Metering Pump Operation

Shown: As the piston moves downward, fluid is drawn into the two left ports. Each left port draws a different fluid which mix in the chamber. Then, 30% of the fluid is dispensed via the top-right port, and suction is applied to the line before the valve closes. The remaining fluid is dispensed via the middle-right and bottom-right ports, which each dispense 30% and provide suck back.

Metering Pump Operation

Shown: Fluid is drawn into the chamber via the bottom-left port as the piston moves downward. Fluid is dispensed via the each of the other five ports sequentially, and each dispense alternates with a suction action. Animation demonstrates 80% suction and dispense per stroke.

*Optimized parameters improve repeatability. To maximize repeatability, minimize suction lift, optimize dispense nozzle setup, purge air from fluid chamber, and minimize inlet fluid pressure fluctuations. Tests conducted with water at ambient temperature. Dispense range measured at full stroke with maximum and minimum supply pressures at 80 and 60 psi. Pressure operation >55 psi back pressure diminishes over time.
